cheap calls from turkey
Rebtel - The New Generation of Calling Cards
Why is it that ground Turkey takes so long for the pink to turn brown. ?
I buy this wonderful frozen ground Turkey from Smart n Final called Carolina and it is cheap and tasty. But no matter how long I cook it and stir it and keep the heat up on it, it never loses all the pink color. It does get some brown, but not all of it. It is madding.
Now why is that?
I cook it on medium high heat, with the lid . I cook it for 20 minutes and only stir it once.
when I think it is cooked I take it off the burner.
Later I find out it is brown on the top but underneath. I cook it for another 20 minutes and stir it but still some is still pinkish.
to the person that is now splitting hairs now, saying Turkey turns grey not brown is just a silly response. The problem is not the grey or the brown, it is pinkish shade it stays.
sighs.
Oldwhite- As I stated before the frozen ground Turkey called Carolina is in the freezer hence it is frozen. It is a 5 lb chub and it is delicious. wow.
try using a larger pan, higher heat.. spread the turkey out and don’t stir it for at least 2 minutes… when you cook meat in a small pan, it steams it. if you stir it too quickly you don’t allow the fond to build up. spreading the turkey out in the pan lets the heat circulate around and under it better…
edit: do not cover it… you are steaming the turkey…. not browning..
